The number of inbound tourists in southern China's Guangdong grew 80 percent and the province's tourism foreign exchange earnings were ranked first nationwide, according to data released by Guangdong officials on January 21.
Guangdong is endeavoring to make tourism its pillar industryas it targets 13 percent added value in the modern service industry. During the upcoming 12th Five-Year Plan, Guangdong Province aims to speed up its comprehensive reform of tourism, optimize the tourism industry structure and improve the overall image of Guangdong tourism, according to officials.
The paid leave system is also expected to be put into practice to ensure public participation in tourism and leisure in 2011.
