Chui Sai On, chief executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region, on Tuesday (Jan 11) visited the Central Provident Fund Board and the Housing and Development Board of Singapore, both involved in implementing the housing policies in the country.
Chui visited the Central Provident Fund Board in the morning to learn more about the provident fund scheme, including the contribution of the employers and employees, said Tam Chon Weng, spokesperson of the Macao SAR government.
In the afternoon, Chui visited the Housing and Development Board and flats it developed.
The visit so far was "rewarding" as the delegation from Macao, China, learned more about Singapore's rich experience in formulating provident fund and housing policies, Tam said.
The employers and the labor in Macao, now in the process of formulating its own provident fund policy, have yet to agree on the share of contribution.
Chui arrived in Singapore for a four-day official visit on Monday. He also visited the Marina Bay Sands and Resorts World Sentosa, the two casino resorts in Singapore that started operating last year.
He also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau of Macao and the Civil Service College of Singapore on boosting cooperation in civil service training.
Chui was hosted by Singapore Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean at noon. He attended a dinner hosted by Chinese Ambassador to Singapore Wei Wei.
Chui is expected to meet Singapore leaders including Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew and Foreign Minister George Yeo on Wednesday.
