India welcomes Guangdong enterprises to invest its roads, railways, manufacturing, electrical machinery and equipment, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, power and telecom, said Indra Mani Pandey, India s Consul General in Guangzhou yesterday (March 23).
Pandey adds, a workshop Investment Opportunities in India will be held in Guangzhou s Shangri-la Hotel on 30th March 2011. The workshop, co-hosted by Guangdong Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Department and Consulate General of India, will introduce to enterprises in Guangdong province opportunities for investment in India and India s policies, taxation and bank rules for FDI.
Guangdong and India witness a close tie in recent years. Guangdong Governor Huang Huahua and a mega business delegation visited India last October, and held a Lifestyle Expo in Mumbai. A large number of India companies have set up their offices in Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
India is very keen to enhance its trade and investment relations with Guangdong Province. Trade between Guangdong and India in 2010 amounted to USD 9.62 billion, comprising primarily export from Guangdong to India of USD 7.85 billion. Export from India to Guangdong was USD 1.77 billion.
