Hong Kong to hold tripartite meeting on infectious diseases

About 60 leading medical and public health officials and professionals from Hong Kong, Guangdong and Macao will attend the Tenth Tripartite Meeting on the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases, on Jan. 11 and 12 in Hong Kong, according to the government website on Monday (Jan 10).

During the two-day meeting, participants from the three places will review collaboration in the surveillance, prevention and control of infectious diseases as well as the notification system.

They will also conduct comprehensive and in-depth discussions and share experience in dealing with communicable diseases, particularly dengue fever and other mosquito-borne diseases, the prevention and control of influenza, the current situation concerning enterovirus infection, the communicable disease information system and work on the elimination of measles.

Led by Hong Kong's Director of Health P Y Lam, the city's delegation will comprise representatives from the Department of Health, the Hospital Authority and the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department.

The visiting delegations will be led by Associate Director of Health Department of Guangdong Province Huang Fei, and Director of the Health Bureau of Macao Lei Chin-ion.
