The 16th International Chinese New Year Night Parade will be staged on Feb 3 at Tsim Sha Tsui, featuring a total of 36 floats and performing groups from 11 countries and regions, announced the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) on Tuesday (Jan 11).

Organized by the HKTB and sponsored by Cathay Pacific Airways, the parade will adopt the theme "World City, World Party" to promote Hong Kong's cosmopolitan appeal and tourism attractions.

As in last year, the parade will embark from Hong Kong Cultural Center, Tsim Sha Tsui, and then proceed alone Nathan Road.

Captivating performances and entertainment will be presented along the parade route, culminating in a mega party for local residents and visitors alike to celebrate the Year of the Rabbit in signature vibrant Hong Kong style.

Chairman of HKTB James Tien said at the press conference Tuesday that they will continue to make use of this holiday period to promote travel to Hong Kong.

Over 15 million HK dollars has been allocated, out of which 40 percent will be spent in the Chinese mainland to promote the parade and other Chinese New Year celebrations in Hong Kong, he said.
