Dongguan's housing administration on Wednesday denied the possibility of introducing property-purchasing limitations as a measure to curb the rise of housing prices in the near future, Dongguan Daily reports.
Mr. Zhu Chuan, the director of Dongguan Housing and Urban Construction Bureau, said on Wednesday that it is not clear at the moment whether Dongguan would introduce property-purchasing limitations to curb the rise of housing prices.
According to him, Dongguan municipal government has set the tolerance of city's property prices rise at 8% this year, but has not released any policies on property-purchasing limitations.
Curbing the rise of property price has been a top mission for many local governments since this January. Some first-tier cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen have rolled out various rules to restrict home purchases and rein in soaring property prices.
On March 18, Foshan city, as a second-tier city in Guangdong Province, released a package of rules to restrict home purchases. The rules state that people with residence permits will be limited to two properties, and eligible non-locals will be allowed to buy only one.
Foshan's property-purchasing limitation rules have worried many property sellers in Dongguan who speculate that Dongguan, as another second-tier city in Guangdong neighboring Foshan, would follow its way to place purchase limit to the real estate market.
