Work began on March 31 on a ultra-white calendered solar-cell substrate project in the Zengcheng Development Zone. The 1.8-billion-yuan project was an investment deal clinched during the "New Guangzhou, New Business Opportunities" Investment Promotion Seminar in Beijing.
Upon completion, the project will have three ultra-white calendered solar-cell substrate production lines, the largest ones of their kind in the world, producing 569,400 tons of substrates a year (650 tons of melting operations on each production line a day), with annual sales of 5 billion yuan and taxes of 560 million yuan.
The project will incorporate state-of-the-art eco-friendly equipment and meet the nation's latest emission standards. The project is in the upstream of the photovoltaic industry, boasting various proprietary technologies relating to solar photovoltaic substrates.
