On the morning of September 6th, Dr. Thomas Baker, Art School president of University of Bern in Switzerland, and his delegation visited our university. Prof. Wu Zhiqiang, president assistant and dean of Design and Creative School, and Prof. Li Zhenyu, director of Foreign Affairs Office, met with them in Comprehensive Building. Dr. Flavia Schlegel, Deputy Consul General of Switzerland in Shanghai, attended the meeting.
At the meeting, Wu Zhiqiang welcomed Thomas Baker and the delegation for Tongji University and briefed Tongji s developing planning and preparation work for Shanghai International Design No.1 Spot. Li Zhenyu described the relevant development of Tongji University. Dr. Thomas Baker said Swiss universities were doing merger and disciplines integration, and actively building international cooperation. Art School of University of Bern chose Tongji University as its first choice for international cooperation in Asia, and invited Tongji delegation to visit their Art School.
Flavia Schlegel said that this year was the 60th anniversary of building Sino-Swiss diplomatic relationship. There were great changes taken place in both countries, but the friendship between the people in the two countries had not changed. He would support cooperation between Art School of University of Bern and Tongji University.
Then, the two sides signed a cooperation memorandum and exchanged gifts.
