On the morning of June 3rd, Howard Cohen, President of Purdue University Calumet, Erika Cohen, Prof. Zhou Qian and Prof. Harry Hou visited NCEPU. Many Leaders, such as Vice President Li Chengrong, Liu Yongqian (Director of International Cooperation Department), Xu Hong (President of Energy and Dynamic Engineering School), Xu Lingling (Deputy Director of International Cooperation Department), and Duan Chunming (Vice President of International Education School), attended the meeting.
At the beginning, Vice President Li extended warm welcome to Howard and his party on behalf of NCEPU. He then stated that 8 talents of 2+2 Project Class, NCEPU, had been selected to pursue a 2-year further study in Purdue University. He also said that the successful implementation of the Project marked a substantive stride in the course of the cooperation between NCEPU and PurdueUniversity. Howard Cohen believed that the Project would foster mutual benefit, and to achieve continuous development of the win-win project, both parties should play an active role in expanding new cooperation fields.
Subsequently, Prof. Zhou Qian gave a detailed account of Etie Project of PurdueUniversity, which meant that NCEPU juniors could apply to complete the forth academic year in PurdueUniversity and then went on with the graduate study there. On the basis of this idea, Vice President Li put forth the concept of 1+1 Double-Degree Masters Project. What s more, he expressed his opinions on exchange projects for junior undergraduates.
President Howard spoke highly of the above suggestions and hoped for smooth development in the future.
Prof. Zhou Qian, introduced the newly-built laboratory of PurdueUniversity to Xu Hong, who also hoped that both sides would reinforce cooperation in laboratory construction.
At the end of the meeting, Vice President Li awarded appointment letter for Honorable Professor to President Haward. Both agreed that the two parties would keep close cooperation tie and make joint effort for common development.
In the afternoon, President Howard and Ms. Erika introduced Purdue University and students management affairs respectively to students from 2+2 Project class and teachers in charge of students affairs, which earned them praise from both groups.
