Colin Baley, Vice President of the University of Manchester, and Joanne Speakman, senior official of the Department of International Cooperation, visited NCEPU on June 7. President Liu Jizhen met the guests.
President Liu extended his warm welcome to their visit. He said that so far this year, our school had sent a total of 45 students to study Electrical Engineering and three students to pursue their master s degree in nuclear power engineering at the University of Manchester. The University of Manchester was a major partner of NCEPU and the two parties should develop new modes of cooperation to meet the ever increasing social needs. President Colin said that the University of Manchester attached great importance to cooperation with NCEPU. As both universities enjoyed a high reputation in their respective countries, he hoped that the two universities could further cooperate with each other to achieve mutual development. President Liu proposed that based on the existing 2+2 program, the two universities could take developing the 3+2 program into consideration. At the same time, NCEPU could expand areas of cooperation and further cooperate in such areas as finance, accounting etc. President Colin regarded it as a good proposal, and he said that he would implement these programs as soon as possible.
The meeting enables the two parties to better understand and value the relationship between each other, and therefore lays the foundation for a better and faster mutual development.
