Fifth CRIS Conference Hold in NCEPU

The fifth international CRIS conference on critical infrastructures (CRIS 2010) was held in NCEPU, Beijing from September 19th to 20th, 2010. The theme of the conference was interacting critical infrastructures for the 21st century. 216 international and domestic contributed papers have been received in all, and 106 symposiums have been included after rigorous inspection during this conference. Over 200 representatives attended this conference, and they came from the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Belgium, Sweden, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Portugal, Singapore, China Taiwan, Hong Kong and other countries or regions. These participants were mainly from Virgin Tech abroad, Swiss KTH, Tsinghua University, Xi an Jiaotong University, Southwest Jiaotong University, Shandong University, Taiwan Sun Yat-sen University, Research Institute of State Grid, Wind Power Center of Gansu, Hunan Electric Power Test Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Areva T & D, Electric Power Group, and other famous institutions. Representatives included Professor A.G. Phake (Academician of U.S. National Academy of Engineering) and Professor J. Thorp (Academician of U.S. National Academy of Engineering) and many other international prominent figures in power academia.
Fifth CRIS Conference Hold in NCEPU
On the opening ceremony held on the morning of September 19th, A. Phadke, the Honorary Chairman of CRIS Academician, Liu Jizhen , President of NCEPU and Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Li Ruomei, Secretary-General of the Chinese Electrical Engineering Association addressed the conference respectively, and extended their warm congratulations to the convening of the conference.
Three conference reports were invited in this conference: Smart Power Systems in Europe: Main Challenges for Tomorrow by Claude Counan from France EDF; The Developments and Challenges of Chinese Power Industry by NCEPU President Liu Jizhen; Electric Power System as the Critical Infrastructure: Today Status and Challenges of the Future by Professor A. Styczynski from German Zbigniew. About 8 groups of 40 presentations were arranged in this conference involving the aspects of distributed generation, risk assessment of power system, stabilization and control of new energy power system, new energy access and power electronics, protection and automation of wide-area power system, applications of wide area measurement system, economic operation of power systems, analysis of key power equipment, etc. Meanwhile, the conference also arranged a group of poster presentations, up to 66 posted articles.
Fifth CRIS Conference Hold in NCEPU
The conference topics were basic, forward-looking and practical. This conference provided a platform to exchange the latest research findings for the experts in this field. What s more, it is a unique learning opportunity for the participants, especially domestic young scholars. It also played a positive role in promoting the carrying out related researches. The organization and academic contents of this conference have been widely praised.
