Hainan island in the south China sea is the site of kempinski s latest acquisition Boao Canal Village. The company has managed the majority of the 188 000 square metre development s 105 villas since November 2005 after signing an agreement with owner SOHO China Headed by husband and wife team Pan Shiyi and Zhang Xin developer SOHO also owns the Great wall architectural collection-which was responsible for designing the boutique hotel commune near Beijing in 2002. The company plans to construct a convention centre restaurant and bar for the village by April 2006 working around the architecture and simple neutral interiors of its existing villas which are designed in nine different styles by architects Rocco Yim of Hong Kong and Sung H Sang of Korea. The new amenities will also be managed by Kempinski.
