In the morning of September 25,2005, China First Heavy Industries Co. LTD and QinShan Nuclear Power Joint Venture Co. LTD signed the contract officially at the Diaoyutai Guest House in Beijing. That means the nuclear reactor pressure vessel and pressurizer for No. 2 stage of QinShan Nuclear Power Extension Project will be supplied by China First Heavy Industries Co. LTD. Zhang Guobiao, the vice director of State Development and Reforming Commission, Sun Qin, the vice director of Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, Wu Shengfu, the president of China First Heavy Industries Co. LTD, Kang Rixin, the president of China Nuclear Industries Co. LTD, Li Yongjiang, the board chairman of China QinShan Nuclear Group Joint Venture Co. LTD and Jin Taiyu, the vice president of South Korea DouShan Heavy Industries Co. LTD attended the meeting and made speech.

Sun Changji, the vice group leader of State Nuclear Technology Preparation Group, as well as the leaders from State Resources Commission, HeiLongjiang Province Government and relevant departments, enterprises attended the signing ceremony.

QinShan Nuclear Power Plant is a fine model of localization for China Nuclear Power Equipment, and its second stage of the extension project that has been listed into the national key construction projects is made up of two 650,000 KW pressured water reactor nuclear power plants which are the largest capability nuclear power plants among the domestically produced ones up to now.

And the localization rate for these two plants is up more than 70%.As an important backbone state-owned enterprise, China First Heavy Industries Co. Ltd has always deeded her duty to revive the national industries and develop equipment manufacturing, and devoted herself to the research and development of nuclear power equipment for long time.

CFHI provided all forgings of nuclear reactor main vessel, main pump case, pressurizer and steam generator twice for Chashma Nuclear Power Plant, Pakistan, and since then she gained rich experience in manufacturing nuclear power equipment. This time, the nuclear reactor pressure vessel supplied by CFHI for No.

2 stage of QinShan Nuclear Power Plant Extension Project is a critical equipment of nuclear island and is featured by unchangeability. Furthermore, it is the first time that 100% localization Is realized, i.e. from steelmaking, forging, heat-treatment, machining, welding to transportation all are done by CFHI.

This will play a positive role in localization of third generation of SanMan and YangJiang nuclear power station projects that are going through biding now, prove that China has the capacity of manufacturing third generation of nuclear power plants with existing technology and facilities, and be of significant meanings to accelerate the construction of nuclear power plant above 1000MW, increase localization rate and reduce project investment.

Meanwhile, CFHI being awarded the contract after intense competition also prove that domestic manufacturers are of the capacity to construct nuclear power station completely with on their own technical strength.

In the signing ceremony President Wu Shengfu expressed: Practice will prove that China First Heavy Industries Co. LTD is of the capacity to research, develop and master the advanced technology, possesses the manufacturing strength to take on the responsibility for the localization of nuclear power equipment with important technology, and makes greater contribution to the localization of Chinese nuclear power plant construction.
