6. The Success of the First UHV Shunt Reactor Research and Development
The First 200Mvar/1000kV UHV Shunt Reactor in China passed the Conformance Test in One Time
On May 18, 2008, the first 200Mvar/1000kV UHV shunt reactor with indigenous design and manufacture under 1000 kV UHV trial demonstration projects has been successfully developed at TBEA Hengyang Transformer Co., Ltd. a dozen of Chinese and foreign experts from States Grid Corporation, State Grid Operation Company, China Power Research Institute, Wuhan UHV Research Institute of States Grid Corporation, Jiangsu Power Experiment Research Institute, Hubei Power Experiment Institute and Italy CESL, Technical Center of TBEA Transformer Group witnessed in the overall course of experiments.
The first 200Mvar/1000kV UHV shunt reactor of TBEA Hengyang Transformer Co., Ltd. passed the all items of type tests and delivery tests, all technical indexes are more better than requirements of technical agreements, the key technical indexes including insulation withstanding, partial discharge, temperature rise and noise can meet international standards. It marked the significant progress achieved in the UHV AC program and the indigenous innovation of manufacturing industry, It marked that TBEA UHV power transformation & transmission has obtained a leadership position in the world.

7. The first UHV transformer was successfully developed
China's first UHV transformer at 1000MVA/1000kV passed test in one time
On July 4th, 2008, the world first AC UHV 1000MVA/1000kV transformer passed all test items, will be operated shortly in power transmission line from Jindongnan to Jingmen via Nanyang-
The UHV1000MVA/1000kV transformer passed through many strict tests, such as lightning impulse and voltage test which exceeded 1.7 times of rated voltage. every technical specification was better than that of design requirement in accordance with international standards. A dozens of experts from State Grid Corporation, State Grid Electric Power Research Institute, China Electric Power Research Institute and CESI of Italy etc. witnessed all process of the test. All experts present were very excited when no partial discharge occurred in partial discharge test which was 1.5 times stringent than normal test condition, and they all agree that the achievement was remarkable, this techniques break through were not only for TBEA Shenyang Transformer Group but also for national manufacturing industry..
Mr. Chen Weijiang, the director of the UHV Construction Department of State Grid Corporation, said: it is a memorable today, the Chinese first, also the world s first 1000kV single phase transformer was born in TBEA Shenyang Transformer Company besides the discharge amount of voltage terminal is less than 20pc in partial discharge test which was 1.5 times stringent than normal test condition, on this occasion, I hereby appreciate the great effort made by the UHV experts team of TBEA on behalf of State Grid Corporation

8. The Delivery of UHV Transformer and Reactor
1000kV UHV Transformer and Reactor Were Successfully delivered
On June 27, and July 27, 2008, the first 200Mvar/1000kV reactor and 1000MVA/1000kV transformer in China have been dispatched separately from TBEA Hengyang Transformer Co., Ltd and TBEA Transformer Group, respectively. The weight of 1000MVA/1000kV transformer is 397 tons, the height is 4.97 meters, which hit several new records in term of transformer shipment. The total weight of 200Mvar/1000kV reactor is 258.7 tons.
1000MVA/1000kV UHV transformer will firstly be loaded on board at Huludao dockyard, was shipped to Shanghai by ocean, and then arrived at jingmen Dock by river, and was destined to Jingmen substation by land, the overall journey is 3,000-kilometer, the total transportation duration is up to 30 days. In order to well prepare for transportation of the first UHV transformer in the world, TBEA Shenyang Transformer Group has brought the transportation into agenda since the tender was opened in 2006. The company set up a special team to finalize transportation scheme, and held various meetings on transportation coordination, conducted a lot of physical convey on transportation condition in full consideration of specific requirements for the UHV transformer to ensure proper shipment of transformer to final destination.
200Mvar/1000kV UHV shunt reactor dispatched from Hengyang Dock with its terminal handling capacity up to thousand tons of cargo, travelled 1000 kilometers along the Xiangjiang River, the Changjiang River and the Hanjiang River, finally reached the Xianghe Dock. In order to safeguard the safety and reliable transportation, Xin Te logistic company which was responsible for the whole transportation, conducted a comprehensive research and inspection for the roads, bridges and overhead obstacles all along the transportation route. 9. The Commissioning of the UHV Power Equipments
1000kV UHV Transformers, 1000kV UHV Reactor successfully Passed the Field Tests
At 19:40 on October 7, 2008, the 1000kV UHV transformers and 200Mvar/1000kV reactor developed by TBEA, successfully passed partial discharge test at Jingmen substation. It marked the success of the main power equipments installation and testing of the world's first 1000kV UHV AC trial demonstration projects from Jindongnan to Jingmen via Nanyang, It is another milestone of the progress achieved in the UHV project construction of State Grid Corporation, TBEA made a positive contribution for commissioning of the trial demonstration projects by the end of the year.
The world s first 1000kV UHV transformers and 200Mvar/1000kV reactor developed by TBEA arrived at Jingmen substation, the installation were completed on September 9th. Testing work were initiated on September 30th. Due to the large capacity of main transformer and high test voltage level, there were no previous tangible experience to guide the field partial discharge tests, this test is virtually the most difficult one in the transformer field test history. At 18:30, on October 10th, the test started, when the voltage level is d up to 953kV, detected discharge amount of is less than 30pc on 1000kV side, which completely meet the requirement of Standard of Hand-over Test of Electric Equipments for 1000kV UHV AC Trial Demonstration Projects from Jindongnan to Jingmen via Nanyang , 1000kV UHV transformers successfully passed the test, and it proved once again the reliability of TBEA UHV power equipments.

10. Loaded Operation of the UHV Power Equipments
