The Northeast Asia Trade Development Forum Held in Yanji

August 28, the Northeast Asia Trade Development Forum with "expanding international cooperation in Northeast Asia, building a modern logistics system" as the theme was held in Yanji City.

Chairman of China Association for Research on Economic Restructuring and former deputy director the National Commission for Economic Restructuring Gao Shangquan, inspector of Policy Research Centre of the CPC Central Committee International Bureau Yu Peiwei, deputy secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Foreign Trade Development Bureau Wu Tongdiao, and party committee secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Research Institute Yuan Zaiqing attended the forum.

Provincial Standing Committee member and party secretary of Yanbian Prefecture Deng Kai, governor Li Longxi, prefectural standing committee member and prefectural party committee secretary-general Che Guangtie, deputy governor Ximen Shunji, party secretary of Yanji City Jin Yongmo, Yanji Mayor Zhao Zhexue and prefectural government secretary-general Zhao Long attended the forum.

More than 100 people, including local governments, economic and trade officials and economic organizations, experts and scholars of trade promotion agencies from Russia, South Korea, Japan, North Korea and other countries, attended the forum.

Deng Kai delivered a speech in the forum. He said that Yanbian, located in the junction of China, Russia and North Korea, is a core area of the Northeast Asian economic zone and the international cooperation and development in Tumenjiang River Region, and it has unique geographical advantages, rich natural resources, favorable policy conditions and a good foundation for development. As the front porch and window of the Changchun-Jilin-Tumen pilot area for opening up, Yanbian is the main carrier of the development and opening up in Tumenjiang River, but also an important area for Jilin Province to speed up regional development and industrial restructuring. In recent years, we follow the deployment and requirement of the central government, Jilin provincial party committee and provincial government, firmly grasp favorable opportunities such as China s carrying forward the western region development and the revitalization of the old industrial bases in Northeast, unswervingly implement the opening up strategy, and adhere to doing a good job in border development and sea connection, investment promotion, foreign trade expansion, tourism revitalization, overseas labor service and infrastructure construction enhancement, etc., so that the opening up of Yanbian makes a historic breakthrough, and drives the comprehensive and sustainable economic and social development.
Deng Kai stressed that at present, peace and development is still the theme of the times, seeking for peace and development and promoting cooperation has become an irresistible trend of the times. Especially with the full implementation of the "Planning Outline for Changchun-Jilin-Tumen", the Northeast Asian cooperation and the cooperation and development in Tumenjiang River Region have entered a new historical period. In the new situation and new context, further speeding up the process of exchange and cooperation and innovating the exchange and cooperation carrier plays an important role in concentrating wisdom and strength of neighboring countries and regions, promoting cooperation and development, and thus achieving industry complementation, economic integration and common development, but also complies with the fundamental interests of Northeast Asian countries. This Northeast Asia Trade Development Forum with "expanding international cooperation in Northeast Asia, building a modern logistics system" as the theme mainly aims to further deepen exchange and cooperation between the neighboring countries and businesses in Northeast Asia, speed up building a convenient, unblocked and safe modern logistics system, and promote cross-border transport and cross-border trade "big-volume entry and exit", to lay a solid foundation for fully upgrading the international influence of Northeast Asia. We are willing to take advantage of this event and work with all parties to find out an effective way to promote all-round development foreign trade in Yanbian, discuss about specific measures for speeding up the construction of the Northeast Asia international logistics platform, and create a brand-new situation for the international cooperation and development in Tumenjiang River Region.

This forum is organized by the Ministry of Commerce Foreign Trade Development Bureau, the Ministry of Commerce Research Institute, Provincial Department of Commerce and prefectural government, and co-organized by prefectural Business Council, Yanji Municipal Government, Hunchun Municipal Government and Tumen Municipal Government.
