On March 14, 2011, Professor Qing Hairuo, the Dean of the faculty of Geology, Regina University, Canada and Dr. Stephen Bend, a well-known geologist and professor, Regina University, Canada were invited by Professor Zhang Shaonan, the Dean of Resources and Environment School, SWPU to discuss the further cooperation and exchanges between Regina University and SWPU. And the two Professors presented an academic lecture afterwards.
Professor Zhang Shaonan gave a general introduction of the development of disciplines, scientific research and personnel training at Resources and Environment School. He hoped that both sides could deepen cooperation in scientific research, bilateral academic exchange, young teachers further training as well as the cultivation of both undergraduates and postgraduates. Professor Qing Hairuo also made a general introduction on the current situations of teaching and scientific research, the enrollment of foreign undergraduates and graduates as well as visiting scholars in Regina University.
The both sides had a good discussion about such items as the training plan for undergraduate students, postgraduate students, teachers programs, scientific research and lecture. Finally they reached an agreement on what has been mentioned above.
After the meeting, Dr. Bend donated a set of Electronic teaching materials about Petroleum Geology to Resources and Environment School.
Professor Dr. Bend gave an academic lecture named Unraveling the petroleum system of the Williston Basin, Canada for SWPU teachers and students on that afternoon.
