The School of Journalism & Communication (SJC) at JinanUniversity invitesscholars to submit papers for its 2008 International Forum on Media Criticism, focusing on Media Criticism and Media Development.

Overview

The International Forum on Media Criticism is a regular academic platform organized by the School of Journalism & Communication of JinanUniversity. In 2007, the first forum with the theme Media Society and Criticism Spirit held by the school and Zhuhai Daily achieved great success.

The MediaCriticismResearchCenter, which aims at pushing forward the development of media criticism in China, was established in JinanUniversity on March 18, 2008.

Conference Themes/Issues

Papers focusing on the following topics are welcome. Authors are free to choose various topics according to their own interests.

1. The status of media criticism in China.

2. Historical evolution of media criticism at home and abroad; reflections on media criticism.

3. Current status, problems and strategies of media criticism in China.

4. Criticism on typical media phenomena and issues.

Note: Panels and project proposals are welcome.

Submission

The forum invites scholars to submit papers that are relevant to the forum theme and topics. Submission period: July 1, 2008to Aug 31, 2008.

Submissions must be sent via email to SJC at mcf.jnu@163.com. Authors whose papers are accepted will be notified no later than early Oct, 2008. Papers previously published in any form will not be accepted. To hold the scale even, all the authors name will remain sealed during the review. Outstanding papers will be published in a conference proceeding.
