The School of Journalism & Communication (SJC) at JinanUniversity invites scholars to submit papers for the Chinese Communication Forum 2008. The theme of this year is Development and Innovation of Chinese Culture & Communication.

Overview

Since its founding in 2001, Chinese Communication Forum has been held annually as a regular academic platform for communication scholars at home and abroad to exchange ideas. The forum is aimed at exploring media-related projects and promoting research on communication in greater China.

This year s forum is hosted by Communication Association of China (CAC), Chinese Communication Society (CCS), Chinese Communication Association (CCA) and JinanUniversity, and organized by the School of Journalism & Communication (SJC) of JinanUniversity. Other institutions joining the conference as co-hosts include Communication & Society, Asian Journal of Communication, Journalism School of Fudan University, Center For Information and Communication Studies of Fudan University, NationalCenter for Radio and Television Studies of Communication University of China, and Center for Overseas Chinese Literature & Chinese Media Research of Jinan University.

Conference Themes/ Issues

Papers focusing on the following topics are welcomed. Authors are free to choose various topics according to their own interests.

1. Retrospect and outlook of the communication research

2. The experience of journalism and communication in China

3. The dialogue between Chinese communication and western communication theories

4. Communication technology and social changes.

5. Media responsibilities and ethics.

6. Mass media and public domain

7. Mass media and mass culture

8. Economic development and business communication

9. Media industry and media economy.

10. Ethnic Chinese society and cross-cultural communication.

11. Chinese media in the context of globalization

12. Diverse media education and learning from each other

Note: A special forum on media criticism will be held also. (See the attached)

Submission

The conference organizing committee welcomes submissions by interested scholars in the fields of journalism and communication throughout the world. Panel and workshop proposals are also welcome. Papers previously published in any form will not be accepted. In view of justice, all the authors name will remain sealed during the review . Authors whose papers are accepted will be notified.
