Miao Jianjun, Economics Professor of Boston University and HKUST visited Institute of Industrial Economics (IIE)of Jinan University on Dec. 26, 2007. Professor Miao presented his recent study The Timing and Return of Mergers and Acquisitions in Oligopolistic Industrie. The study develops a real options model to study the interaction between industry structure and takeover activity and finds many interesting results. His presentation aroused many participants great interests in this area. They asked a lot of questions. Some teachers from IIE also discussed some extensions of the model. Professor Miao encourage and welcome teachers and graduate students to cooperate with him in the future researches. .
Professor Miao is an outstanding scholar in Financial Economics and Macroeconomics. Many of his researches were published on top journals, such as Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Finance, Journal of Economic Theory, and etc. al.
Professor Zhu Wei Ping, Director of Institute of Industial econmics attended and hosted the seminar.
