There was a decidedly darkened yet glam mood on the runway during Los Angeles Fashion Week.
From March 13 to 22, designers showcased their Fall '09 collections at several events across the city. Angelenos, known for their casual, chic sensibilities, turned out wearable yet stylish collections.
Many had a dark, Gothic-tinged edge, including designers and labels such as MartinMartin, Grai and Raquel Allegra. Styles were sexy and form-fitting with luxe leather jackets, body-skimming silhouettes and distressed knits. Other more street-savvy brands—such as UNIF, Post'Age
and Laeken—harked back to the 1990s grunge era with skinny jeans, rock 'n' roll-inspired concert tees and enough plaid shirts to make Kurt Cobain proud.
Menswear-inspired looks continued but with a 1980s edge. Power suits, harem pants, sequins and an abundance of leggings, leather jackets and blazers filled the runway. And vintage returned with glamorous Hollywood-inspired classics fit for any stylish recessionista looking to revamp her wardrobe.
