Winter edition is taking place from the 24th of January till the 1st of February 2009 at the Westergasfabriek area.
Amsterdam, January 6th 2009 – January 24 till 1 February Amsterdam International Fashion Week celebrates its jubilee. After five years, 156 shows, 129 designers, lots of parties and offschedule events, the tenth edition is there. The official catwalkprogramme, from 28th of
January until 1st of February 2009, is full of young talents and established designers and prominent labels, is taking place at the Westergasfabriek area. The public programme, Fashion Week DOWNTOWN, is taking place at more than 80 places in the centre of Amsterdam.
The 24th of January the kick-off of Fashion Week DOWNTOWN is taking place at the NS Station Amsterdam Central.
Shows
The official AIFW catwalkshow programme is a mixture of top labels and ambitious talents. Bibi van der Velden, Claes Iversen, Collectie Arnhem, Michael Barnaart van Bergen, Oilily, Fashion Institute Arnhem Generation 10, INDIVIDUALS by AMFI, Iris van Herpen, EиD by Eva and Delia,Mada van Gaans, Blue Blood, READY TO FISH by Ilja, Addy van den Krommenacker, Monique Collignon, Swart, TV- a- porter by Steps, DAITE by Tessa Koops, C’est BRILLANT and darylvanwouw are all on the official AIFW catwalk schedule.
Fashion Week DOWNTOWN
Besides the professional part, which is only accessible on invitation, there is also a big public programme during AIFW. 80 locations, like: shops, galleries, clubs, etc. are taking part of Fashion Week DOWNTOWN. There are lots of things to see and to do. Expositions, shows, funky show windows and parties. The Fashion Week DOWNTOWN programme is taking place from the 24th of January till the 1st of February. The official opening is the 24th of January at the NS
Central Station. Since July 2008 is the Dutch Railways partner of Fashion Week DOWNTOWN.The final public programme will be announced the 16th of January at www.aifwdowntown.com.
New exclusive partners AIFW
Besides main sponsor Fortis Bank Nederland and the various structural partners will AIFW collaborate with Sanoma Publishers as media partner. Toyota is for 2009 the official carsponsor of the Amsterdam International Fashion Week. Toyota will launch its newest model,the IQ and is taking care of the shuttle service.
Amsterdam International Fashion Week
AIFW started in 2004 as an initiative to put Amsterdam on the map as a sparkling and international oriented fashion city. Twice a year Fashion Week establishes itself as the highlight of the Dutch fashion, a full schedule with catwalk shows, trade fairs, presentations,
lectures and parties. The show programme is only for professionals and will take place at the Westergasterrein area. Answering the immense demand, the public programme Fashion Week DOWNTOWN consist of numerous public access catwalk shows; parties; lectures and expositions. All organized in collaboration with museums, galleries, clubs and shops.
