Leather is very much appreciated by the consumers as fashionable and luxurious that holds high value and durability. Now, what do leather garments, car interiors and sport shoes have in common? If they are made out of dark leather, they heat up strongly in the sun which reduces comfort.
TFL, the worldwide company exclusively serving the leather industry has developed the COOL technology, the TFL COOL SYSTEM®: the first system offered to the leather industry, which is able to restrict the rise of temperature in leather garment and dark leather that stays cool even under direct solar radiation opens new perspectives to the fashion industry like - No heating up of dark leathers; Possibility to use black leathers in summer collections, too; Improved wearing comfort; Adding additional value to the fashion goods.
The TFL COOL SYSTEM is the first system offered to the leather industry, which is able to restrict the rise of temperature on the leather surface when coloured leather is exposed to sun radiation. The most significant effect can be reached with black and dark shades, where the temperature reduction is up to 25° C.
The TFL COOL SYSTEM is based on a sun reflective technology where energy is reflected in the invisible part of the solar spectrum. It consists of a range of selected dyes and pigments, namely SELLA®COOL dyes and RODA®COOL pigments, that allow the leather to reflect rather than absorb the infrared radiation, the temperatures in COOL leather garments stay much lower, especially in black and dark colours.
TFL COOL dyes are available in most of the fancy and classic colours. The most significant effect can be reached with black and dark shades.
The system received the ICIS Innovation Award for the best product innovation.
