Bangladesh: Korean Shoe making unit at KEPZ

Recently, an agreement was inked between Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority and M/s Footwear Manufacturing Company Limited at the BEPZA Complex, Dhaka, for setting up a shoe manufacturing unit at Karnaphuli Export Processing Zone.
M/s Footwear Manufacturing Company Limited, a 100 percent Korean Company, will invest US $12.5 million.
Speaking to Fibre2fashion.com, sources from BEPZA informed, “This shoe manufacturing facility is expected to produce nearly 2.4 million pairs of leather footwear and accessories products annually. Production is likely to start after 10 months."
With this venture the Company will create employment opportunities for more than 2000 local people and five foreign nationals.
