A new designer line of bedding and accessories for college dorms has a classic freshman assignment: Dream Big.
Dorm Suite Dorm, a fashion house for college interiors, has unveiled its premiere line with six distinctive collections of duvet covers, coverlets, bed skirts, decorative pillows and accessories. The collection launches just in time for the high school class of 2008 to register on line for graduation gifts.
Color palettes range from new and edgy - think turquoise and tangerine - to classic black and white. Fresh colors like kiwi, sweet pea and lemon add snap and, of course, there's pink and plenty of it.
Shades ranging from hot pink to pastel pop in full force. Eye-catching patterns are Dorm Suite Dorm trademarks with updated takes on paisleys, houndstooth, florals and stripes.
Signature details are everywhere. Each Dorm Suite Dorm group includes at least three contrasting fabrics along with custom flourishes; hand-covered buttons dot duvet covers, contrasting layers peek from pleats in bed skirts.
The twin extra long sheet sets are bright white with applique accents. Piping, fringe and trims finish coverlets and pillows, and almost everything can be monogrammed.
Like college life, room design is subject to change on a moment's notice. Coverlets and duvet covers are reversible.
"You can reinvent your space on a whim; flip the Flower Girl duvet and go from 60's mod to abstract with shots of turquoise onchocolate", says Dorm Suite Dorm founder and design director Sheri Corey, who draws inspiration from theadventurous spirit that marks the move from home sweet home to dorm sweet dorm.
"We play with eclectic concepts like 'preppy with a bohemian twist'. The collections are unique and designed to reflect individuality. It's all about creating happy sophistication."
With college acceptance letters arriving daily all over the U.S., Dorm Suite Dorm launches just in time for college prep.
An on-line Dream Registry on the company's website, gives high school grads and soon-to-be University freshmen a place to build a wish list.
Pajama pants, bulletin boards and lamps are available and gift certificates and gift cards are offered too; all delivered with a custom E-card echoing the design house motto, "Dream Big!".
