Polyester specialist Trevira is once again taking its place at this year’s Index trade fair for nonwovens, which is the largest in the world. With its base in Bobingen, Bavaria (Germany), the fibre manufacturer is presenting a range of staple fibres for the hygiene sector and for technical applications.
Important areas involve bicomponent fibres for thermal bonding for hygiene products such as diapers and feminine hygiene articles, as well as nonwovens, i.e. for insulation and filteration in the automotive sector. Nonwovens made from Trevira special types and by the hydro-entanglement process are a further issue. These are not only used in wet wipes and cosmetic pads, but are now increasingly employed in technical applications as well.
In close partnership with its customers Trevira works on fibre modifications to suit the demands of the customers. In its in-house Technical Centre Trevira develops, produces and releases for production all kinds of fibre qualities, at every stage from prototype to market-ready. In many cases they constitute the basis for innovative products and new end uses.
“Index takes place only every three years – making it all the more important for us to use this platform,” says Günter Wittmann, who will in future be responsible at Trevira for sales of staple fibres. “With our products for the nonwovens market we are able to present ourselves here in the midst of our customers.”
Trevira GmbH, a company of the Reliance Group, India, produces and sells, under the brand name Trevira, high-quality textile polyester staple fibres and filament yarns (flat and textured, raw and dyed) for the apparel, home textiles and automotive industries, as well as for hygiene and technical applications. Production operations are located in Belgium, Denmark, Germany and Poland. In 2006, Trevira had 1,900 employees and sales of around 329 million euros.
