The Futurotextiel 08 exhibition will be held on 9 October till 7 December, 2008 at Kortrijk.
The Futurotextiel 08 exhibition will not only introduce visitors to spectacular and advanced textile applications from companies in the Kortrijk-Lille region, but also focus on the importance of research techniques and developments in the textile industry. The exhibition aims to instil not only a sense of wonder but also some form of awareness in the visitor.
To this end, the exhibition is divided into three major sections: an educational section, an artistic section, and a section featuring new technology applications. In addition, a textile lab will be set up at the heart of the exhibition space.
The educational space introduces the public to the basic principles of textile technology. The various primary textile processes are simply and vividly described and demonstrated to the visitors.
The second section of the exhibition focuses on high-tech textile applications in the building industry, health sector, biotechnology, sports, and even in space travel. Special attention will also be given to flax.
Textile and the innovative technological applications thereof are the ideal basic ingredients for artists. This will be the main theme of the third section of Futurotextiel 08.
Each of these sections will be approached from a cross-border perspective. Companies, educational establishments and artists on both sides of the border will join efforts to structure the content of the exhibition.
