It was unfortunate of Nandan Exim Ltd to have received an embrace of fire which outspread from its very own produce of super fine cotton.
This textile manufacturing unit at Piplaj-Pirana road on the outskirts of Ahmedabad is a part of the Rs1,200 crore Chiripal Group and produces 100 percent cotton piece dyed fabric, blended cotton fabric and denim.
Fire was reported to have started at around 4 pm yesterday, at the premises of the plant and is said to have blotted out one lakh cotton bales. Nearly 24 fire-fighting vehicles and 100 men slogged hard to bring the situation under control but unavailability of water, windy weather and interior location of the unit made the management difficult.
Nevertheless, workers at the factory and people around were saved from any kind of injury or loss of life and even the machines in the factory have been repositioned to a safer place to avoid any damages. Investigation is still being made as to the cause of the fire.
