Beginning February 1, 2008, Scott Young will assume the new role of Senior Vice President, Merchandising and Product Development at Bradington-Young, the upscale leather and motion upholstery division of Hooker Furniture.
Young's move from his current position as President and Chief Executive Officer was "initiated by Scott, and will allow him to focus on what he truly loves and is so talented at doing, and that is developing product and merchandising," said Alan Cole, Executive Vice President, Upholstery for Hooker.
Cole noted that this summer, the company put in place a strong senior management operations and sales team, promoting four individuals, including Dale Smith to Vice President, Manufacturing; Conrad Kerley to Vice President, Leather and Import Operations; Ben Causey to Senior Vice President, Finance and Administration and Craig Young to Senior Vice President, Sales.
"With this strong management team in place with responsibility for day to day operations and sales, Scott is freed to focus entirely on his primary area of expertise and passion," Cole said.
Young has served as President and Chief Executive Officer since Hooker's acquisition of Bradington-Young in 2003. He will continue to report to Cole, who joined Hooker in July in the new position of Executive Vice President, Upholstery, overseeing Hooker's Bradington-Young and Sam Moore subsidiaries.
