The Indian textile industry is on the threshold of major changes. The very nature of the industry is changing. On the one hand, rupee appreciation is adversely affecting exporters while on the other hand India's textile industry is building a strong and positive image on the international stage.
Talking to Fibre2fashion about current textile trends, Rishabh Jain, Director of Rishabh Velveleen Limited — Asia's leading manufacturers of velvet fabrics and synthetic leather — said the "textile industry scenario is getting interesting every day".
"The textile sector will soon change from being an unorganized industry to being an organized one. This change will come about because of investments by international retail biggies. They are the ones who will tell the manufacturers what to produce," Rishabh said.
