New Zealand : Gisborne & Timaru awaits fibre festivity

The Winter Woollies Weekend 2008 organized by Creative Fibre at Poverty Bay, Gisborne, will be held from July 10-13.
The Creative Fibre Annual General Meting will be held on the 10th followed by a bus trip from Gisborne to the Opotiki Fibre and Fleece Festival on 11th. On the 12th will be a bus trip around Gisborne.
Awapuni School Hall will be open for registrants to spin, weave, and knit all throughout the three day program.
Moreover, Timaru has already been chosen for hosting the 40th year of Creative Fibre Festival of 2009. The festivity will be run by a South Canterbury committee headed by Woodbury's Alison Hurley.
The Exbition will be held some time in April in the well known gallery, Aganthi, located in south island in Timaru.
The event will include an exhibition and fashion parade displaying work by some of the country’s best fibre artists. The celebration would also showcase various facets of fibre work including felting, weaving and spinning. More than 500 creative members are expected to participate in the Timaru event.
In an exclusive interview with fibre2fashion Ms Nynke Piebenga, President of Creative Fibre, told that the three day workshop will see speakers and lecturers taking part in the exhibition that will display nearly 180 creations by artistsand 160 items of fashion designers.
The exhibition will also encourage the sale of materials and equipments required for fibre artists.
