Vietnam : Textile & footwear firms honoured with CSR award

Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT), in cooperation with Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Vietnam ActionAid organization and others, held a rewarding ceremony Corporate Social Responsibility Award (CSR) 2007 in Hanoi.
Around 33 enterprises operating in footwear, textiles and garments sectors received such awards for their achievements in labour law compliance, high economic efficiency in the last three years, good social policies adopted for employees and effective environmental protection contribution.
The Hanoi Garment and Textile Corporation won first prize while the two second prizes went to Phong Phu Corporation and Dong Phuong Garment Company Limited in Dong Nai province while the third places were awarded to Viet Tien GarmentFibre2fashion News Desk - Vietnam, Song Hong and Long An Im-Export Company. The organizers also presented five consolation prizes.
Long An Garments was awarded as the most environment friendly enterprise.
This is the third successive year, the award has been presented to honor enterprises good at social responsibility obedience. These companies have contributed to enhance Vietnamese business community’s image and prestige in the international arena and to support enterprises to connect with each others and regional forum to well perform CSR directing toward sustainable business.
Besides these general goals, the CSR 2007 reward aims at promoting enterprises to better perform social responsibility, sharing experience in labor management, improving working environment and well-being of the employees.
