Leonard Chao, Taiwan Ambassador, recently visited Swaziland and while attending the Nkilongo Technical Training Centre for Skills Development Outreach Program graduation ceremony he displayed his skills at practicing grassroots diplomacy.
Mr Leonard Chao said, “In order to practice ‘my Grass-roots Diplomacy’, and to help the needy Swazi people in the rural areas with access to the expertise and skill training courses, the Mission, under the supervision of the Embassy, has walked out of the NHTC campus to reach those people at the grassroots level across the entire Kingdom.”
According to the Ambassador, vocational training is an integral part of modern education that will help attain professional skills, which will in turn contribute to generating employment for the youth.
Asked about his opinion on the Outreach Program, Mr Chao assured, “The skills and techniques the students have learned and acquired from the Outreach Programme will help achieve the goals of poverty alleviation.”
Mr Leonard further reiterated, “The main objective of the Outreach Program is to help Swazi youth in rural areas to develop expertise so that they could improve their standards of living and generate incomes.”
By literally putting his grass root diplomacy into practice Taiwan Ambassador went ahead to donate 8 electric sewing machines and 200 pieces of various clothing to the Inkhundla.
