A unique display of early American textile manufacturing is being displayed at an exhibition at Somerset Historical Center north of Somerset.
The expo titled 'Unraveling the Woof: Home Textile Equipment of Early America', that started sometime in mid-November will carry on till April 13 2008 from 9 am to 5 pm.
Woof is essentially a term used for referring to a filling thread used in the process of weaving. The exhibition will also display some unique and remarkable pieces that include a number of spinning wheels like pendulum wheel, double-treadle wheel, tow wheels, European styles, yarn swifts, clock reels, squirrel-cage winders and many more.
Additionally, some other wheels crafted by popular local manufacturers, Joel B. Miller and his son, Elias Miller, will also be showcased at the event. Visitors will also find a range of tape looms, decorated flax hetchels and two flax-scutching wheels.
