Turkey : Textile & garment exports go over $20 bn

Kursad Tuzmen, State Minister of Turkey on December 12 disclosed that the exports of textile and readymade garments from January to November this year have surpassed US $20 billion.
Detailing on the export figures, Mr Tuzmen said that while exports of textile goods increased by 17 percent, that of readymade garments soared by 16 percent in 2007 compared to the previous year.
While attending the opening ceremony of Istanbul Fashion Academy, Mr Tuzmen said that the foundation of this academy would gradually pave the way for Istanbul to become a leading fashion center of the world.
State Minister further asserted, "Turkish designers will not need to study at academies or universities in foreign countries. They will prefer to study at Istanbul Fashion Academy."
