Vietnam : German textile machinery symposium ends today

Ho Chi Minh City hosted the two day symposium on German textile machinery at the New World Hotel Saigon, for promoting their machineries in the local market. Today is the last day of the event.
The symposium is organised under the patronage Dr Heinz-Peter Seidel, Consul General of the German Embassy Ho-Chi-Minh City, along with the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology. German Textile Machinery Association (VDMA), leading Vietnamese textile Associations and the local agents of the German textile technology suppliers also extended their support.
Around 26 enterprises from new textile weaving, spinning and finishing machinery and equipments sectors are participating here.
According to Thomas Waldmann, Managing Director, VDMA, Vietnam has carved a niche in the international market and local garment exporter are looking to upgrade to keep up with the prevailing international standards. The German suppliers are offering their technology and experience to help local business save energy and materials and machinery maintenance and repair.
According to statistics, Vietnam imported German machinery worth Euro15 million in 2005 and Euro19 in 2006.
