India : FDCI to host the forthcoming SAARC fashion show

Fashion Design Council of India is to organize a SAARC fashion show that may coincide with the 29th South Asian bloc’s Council of Ministers meeting to be held here next month.
The event titled ‘Threads of Unity’ is scheduled to be held on December 7 and will feature the creations of 14 designers from eight different nations.
The meeting of the Council is to be attended by foreign ministers of SAARC nations. Being the present Chair of SAARC, India is concentrating on improving people-to-people relation in the region and the fashion show will be one of the important element of the SAARC cultural festival to be held for the first time in India.
This upcoming fashion show aims to generate the rich cultural heritage of the region by highlighting the textile traditions and indigenous handicraft and embroidery techniques of the SAARC nations.
India will be represented by such celebrated designers like Ritu Kumar and Anamika Khanna.
