Textile and Fashion exports from the European Union to the Gulf soared to Dh3.6 billion, which is an 8.3 percent increase from 2005. The figures were confirmed by the European Fashion and Textile Export Council.
The council is one of the biggest suppliers to the rapidly growing fashion and textile sector of the Gulf. This apart, credit for the increased profit margin in UAE goes to UK which shipped textiles worth Dh300 million. This led to a 30 percent growth in the first half of 2007 compared to the same in 2006.
Trade prospects between the two regions have finally started bearing fruits and it is hoped that this upward trend will enhance relations between Europe and UAE.
