Government is considering setting up a textile hub, which will be named ‘Textilpolis’. This center will aim to coordinate the workings of different export promotion councils (EPCs) and establish a reliable database.
This initiative has been proposed since there is no single entity that can effectually bring in policymaking for the entire textile industry.
An SPV called Council for Trade and Manufacturing in Textiles will serve as the apex body administering and supervising promotional efforts and advising Government on crucial issues.
In other words, the apex body will attempt to streamline the interests of various textile sectors in order to bring about an overall development in the exports of India. Moreover, it will hold membership of manufacturers, traders and association and will endeavor to give representation to all the stake holders.
Government plans to grant a sum of Rs3000 crore for the SPV and the council will be founded once the cabinet approves the proposal.
