Nandita Thirani, Kolkata based designer is no newcomer to the fashion business. She retails from her store in Kolkata and around the country and in USA and Europe.
Her label Contradiction presented an interesting line of semiformal women’s wear for Spring/Summer 2008 at Lakme Fashion Week.
Working around with a colour palette that revolved simply around black, white touches of fuchsia to add drama the print story was restricted to the black and white chess board designs or op art in pink and black that interspersed the garments either to act as trims, contrasts or the full garment.
Her embellishments were restricted to thread covered rings of different sizes that appeared occasionally to decorate the dresses.
The predominantly cocktail dress collection started with black chiffon and fuchsia minis followed by a pretty shift dress with traces of linear sequins.
Little shrugs and boleros - some with a front tie ups were an addition to the slim minis. Fabrics were sheer and layered in both the selected colours to give an interesting dual colour tone effect to the party wear.
Model and VJ Pooja Mishra wore the chocolate toned willpower dress with embellishments to end a very feminine show.
As the name suggests - Contradictions, in fashion for Nandita Thirani is a new style statement, the designer has made which falls effortlessly into the stylish cocktail wear circuit with great ease.
