Germany : Prices & holidays restrain Bremen cotton market

Cotton merchants reported on extreme market caution. Hardly any inquiries were registered and just a few contracts were closed in Europe, since the cotton prices have consolidated on a very high level.
The spinning industry has immense difficulties to calculate the prices for raw material in their prices for yarn. But even internationally, only a few contracts were closed. Moreover, merchants perceive the effects of the European holiday season.
A small amount of cotton was sold from West-Africa, Tanzania, Brazil and Central Asia for the 3rd quarter 2007. Contracts for the 4th quarter 2007 refer to cotton from West-Africa, Tanzania and Brazil. The demand for the 1st and 2nd quarter 2008 was met by the new crop from Chad.
The need for ELS was satisfied by Sudan Barakat as well as US Pima for near dates and US Pima for the 4th quarter 2007 and the 1st quarter 2008.
