This year Dolan GmbH from Germany presented their range of speciality fibres for indoor and outdoor applications for the first time at Expofil Déco in Brussels.
Dolan GmbH is a 100% subsidiary of Kelheim Fibres GmbH and has been manufacturing Dolan, an acrylic speciality fibre, since the 1960s.
Ongoing research and development have made DOLAN a leading fibre for the production of high quality fabrics for awnings, (garden) furniture, sun umbrellas and marine applications.
Dolan offers unique properties. It has excellent light and colour fastness and produces very durable fabrics which can withstand the harshest weather conditions. Dolan also offers a very high colour consistency which is ensured through a special production process in which the colour levels are closely monitored. Furthermore, customised colours can be matched in an in-house colour lab according to customer requirements.
During Expofil Déco the German manufacturer presented a new innovative fibre type which is predestined for the production of furniture fabrics for indoor and outdoor: Dolan Nano. This new fibre combines the advantages of the spun-dyed Dolan fibre with permanent dirt, water and oil repellent functions.
These properties are achieved through the use of special additives which are injected into the fibre during the manufacturing process. The additives become embedded in the fibre and the properties of the fibre remain permanent even after intense mechanical wear and multiple washes.

Hence Dolan Nano surpasses the performance and durability of excisting fluorocarbon finishes which are normally used for upholstery fabrics.
Dolan Nano adds another speciality fibre to the excellent product portfolio of Dolan GmbH and its mother company Kelheim Fibres GmbH. Their product range also includes the leading innovative fibre brands Galaxy, Viloft nonwoven, Outlast Viscose and Dolanit, which are mostly patented fibres and are well-known throughout the industry.
This continuous investment in research and development sets the course for a promising future for a company with a long tradition.
