India : NGO organizes handicraft mela to uplift downtrodden

Anand Bazar, a Handicraft Mela organized by Baroda Shakti was held at Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai.
Baroda Shakti is essentially an NGO administered by the wives of Executives of Bank of Baroda and the handicraft fair was arranged to promote products created by the NGOs.
These social institutions endeavor to work for unfortunate and underprivileged women as well as for special schools run for the mentally challenged, spastic, deaf and dumb children.
Over 30 NGOs participated in the event and displayed articles produced by them. The mela was inaugurated by the popular Bollywood actress-Poonam Dhillon. She also acknowledged the efforts taken by Baroda Shakti to uplift and empower deprived women and children.
