Nepal : Govt accords CIP awards to business pioneers

The Nepal Government on Wednesday awarded 33 leading exporters, international importers and heads of private sector institutions, according them with the status of Commercially Important Person (CIPs).
Awards were given away by Krishna Prasad Situla, who is designated to look after Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supply. CIPs also received a two-year pass that enables them to avail special state facilities like the use of CIP lounge at Tribhuvan International Airport.
Some of the awardees honored at the event include JD Apparels and Rara Apparels, Samling Carpet, Paramount Carpet and Pioneer Carpet, Exclusive Fabrics, Shree Krishna Oil Refinery and Arihanta Multifibers.
At the same time the Government also conferred the title to international corporations like the Gap, Inc, USA, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc, USA, Ludwig Wissenbach GmbH, Germany, Peppich Kibek-GmbH, Germany and The Cashmere Co, UK for being the leading importers of Nepali readymade garments, woolen carpets and pashmina items.
Presidents of six business associations including the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Nepal Chamber of Commerce, Confederation of Nepalese Industries, Garment Association Nepal (GAN), Nepal Carpet Exporters Association and Central Carpet Industries Association also received the awards.
Speaking on behalf of the CIP winners, Kiran Saakha President of Garment Association Nepal (GAN), said that the award has motivated them to make further contributions to expanding the country's exports and industrial base.
In an exclusive interview with Fibre2fashion Mr Kiran Saakha, President of GAN said “To receive the CIP award from the Government was really a matter of pride for private sector, but what is more important is that the Government maintains the value of the award. This time, recipients are quite confident that government will provide maximum possible facility to them in order to retain the significance of the award in the coming days.”
