Two of the biggest names in the transport interiors sector are joining forces to develop a major new dynamic in mass passenger transportation fabrics. Huddersfield based Camira have announced a strategic partnership with Halifax's John Holdsworth & Co which will see the creation of a new company - to be called Holdsworth Fabrics Ltd - within the Camira Group.
The globally recognised and famous Holdsworth brand name will be re-invigorated and positioned for a sustainable future from a stable and secure corporate platform.
Camira have been a consistently successful textile manufacturer thanks to a winning blend of product innovation, customer focus and environmental best practice. Already market leader in the commercial contract fabric sector, in 2003 they acquired British Furtex Fabrics Ltd to take them into high performance plush moquettes for transport and doubled turnover in 2 years.
In the last 18 months they have enjoyed turnover growth of over 10% with sales set to hit £40 million this year.
John Holdsworth & Co were founded in Halifax in 1822 making them the longest standing company specialising in high quality wool moquette fabrics for bus, coach, rail and ferry applications.
They have become known throughout the world with sales in over 40 countries and subsidiaries in USA and Australia. Transportation fabrics are manufactured for some of the biggest bus operators in the industry, including First Group, Stagecoach and Arriva, as well as for London Underground and main line trains.

Camira Managing Director Paul Goodall commented: “We are tremendously excited about the opportunity to develop such a famous brand with a rich heritage and we're confident that our proven formula of service, quality and on-going product innovation will bring even wider worldwide appeal. We're passionate about providing first class textile solutions and are looking forward to developing a future-proof business for the benefit of existing and new customers in the transportation market sector.”
