Tunisia : Intl Textile Equipment Expo ends on Nov 30

Tomorrow is the final day of International Textile Equipment Exhibition (SIET 2007), organized by the Tunis International Fairs' Company. The event is held at at El Kram Exhibition Hall. Organisers expected the expo would attract about 8000 footfalls of Tunisian professionals.
The textile-clothing sector remains a strategic sector in Tunisia. In order to keep this position and modernize its equipment and introduce the most performing technologies; the International Textile Equipment Exhibition “SIET” has been created.
Tunisia does not manufacture textile and clothing materials and equipments. The market is supplied by direct or indirect representatives of manufacturers based in countries producing such equipments and accessories. Around 50 exhibitors and suppliers from countries like Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Turkey, Japan, China, Taiwan and the US are representing at the four day event.
Through its exhibitors, SIET displays a large line of equipments, machines and accessories, together with the latest innovations in the textile and clothing industry.
Equipments, materials and accessories presented at SIET include spinning, weaving and finishing materials, ready-made equipments, sewing, knitting and embroidery machines, circular looms, machines, Textile, ready-made and knitting accessories.
Tunisian textile and clothing industry comprises 2079 small and medium scale enterprises. According to the present statistics, the country is importing equipment and materials worth 130 millions tunisian dinars (77 millions euros) on a yearly basis. About 45 percent of this amount is allocated to readymade clothing equipment.
