Woolmark has launched its new interior colour trends for 2009/10 this month at the start of the New Year to coincide with the leading home textile and floorcovering trade shows - Heimtextil in Frankfurt, Domotex, Hanover and Surfaces, Las Vegas, USA in February.
This year the carpet acquires a new value and becomes almost a design object. Customized and reinterpreted shapes and colourings sit beside classic forms and patterns. Jigsaw pieces are combined at will, or even stone-like elements to bring in nature’s own harmony into our hypermodern homes.
Handcrafted details, laser cut openwork, layerings, and purely chromatic expressions: offer an endless variety of choices to keep up with the latest trends and add a personal touch to any individual environments.
The interior trends show a range of delicate aspects, decoration and chromatic choices inspired by a Japanese feel, working with elegant and intellectualized effects from timeless curves. A contemporary adaptation of geometric designs and folk patterns provide a playful theme. Ethical manufacturing, natural dyes offer a handmade feel linking with the beautiful aspects of nature.
Colour palettes for the season feature rich tones of red, purple and burgundy, which are then contrasted with brighter shades or neutral tones in surprising combinations. Neutrals, white, charred brown and bark act as the base for all the colour palettes.
The season focuses on origami inspired and tapestry pattern patchworks, and damask designs enriched with applications and timeworn colourings for carpets and fabrics. Gentle blurred effects are achieved through the use of layering lace or tulle over patterned fabrics Three dimensional laser cuts creating twists and ripples add surface texture to carpets as do voluminous applications and huge all over patterns.
The interior Woolmark trends are the first launched global fibre and colour trend service for the 2009/10 season, providing licensees with an advantage in the lead time for the development of their seasonal colour ranges and interior styling trends.
Working closely with the industry’s key colour groups and panels, Woolmark provides advanced intelligence to aid colour, yarn and design choices for both interiors and apparel.
