CSG/SportsCoatings announced an initiative to distribute FabricAideT, its industry leading antimicrobial for sports apparel and linens, nationwide to mothers and youth sports groups.
FabricAide was initially introduced into the sports industry 18 months ago and is used by franchises in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and National Football League (NFL) along with major Division I NCAA athletic programs.
The success of FabricAide in the sports world has led to explosive growth among mothers coast-to-coast. In particular, mothers whose children have been affected by MRSA and staph infections have mobilized to advocate the use of FabricAide in their communities.
Co-formulated to combine advanced coating technology with a long-lasting EPA registered antimicrobial, FabricAide minimizes bacterial growth associated with MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureas) as well as an array of fungi, mold and algae for up to 30 washes with just one application.
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) cites towels, uniforms and bed linens as common transfer routes for MRSA and staph. Not sharing personal items is among the key preventative measures recommended by the CDC. Unfortunately, youth sports and physical education courses can’t always prevent kids from sharing uniforms or towels.
“The idea of inhibiting bacterial growth on fabrics 24/7 resonates so well with moms and youth sports parents because MRSA and staph can be passed from skin-to-fabric and vice-versa,” said Craig Andrews, CEO CSG/SportsCoatings. “Parents like knowing that FabricAide is working when their kids sometimes do have to share uniforms or towels.”
“MRSA has become an epidemic of sorts and is emerging as one of the main causes of critical illness in children including young athletes,” said Dr. Thomas Shaney, C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital.
SportsCoatings, a division of the Coating Specialist Group (CSG), provides the most advanced antimicrobial system in the sporting industry. The Sports Antimicrobial System (SAS) offers 360 degrees of complete, powerful defense against the risk of microbial contamination. SportsCoatings offers teams, administrations, parents and athletes a proactive way to effectively minimize the risk of bacterial infections.
