Pakistan : Business training for women by SMEDA

A series of 19 training programmes for business women will be conducted between January to June this year in Lahore. The sessions are being organized by The Women Business Incubation Centre, established by the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (SMEDA).
SMEDA is a premier institution of the Government of Pakistan under Ministry of Industries, Production & Special initiative. It was established in October 1998 to take on the challenge of developing Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Pakistan.
Saima Ali Dada, a famous dress designer was the chief guest for the first two day programme, based on the textile business. It took place on January 29 in the premise of the centre. Project Manager Maimona Sattar and Business Consultant Areefa Azam also discussed various aspects related to the subject.
Ms Maimona Sattar, told participants about various ways and means of taking up a business with small investment and also covered supplier-buyer relationship, guiding the participants about the availability of cheaper raw materials. She even discussed with the audience about details of wholesale markets, raw material, marketing and textile business management, especially bed linens and garments.
The second session was taken by Ms Azam, a renowned business consultant. She tutored about the techniques of developing a business plan. Later, Ms Dada shared her experiences and told women entrepreneurs to overcome with problems regarding confidence. Ms Dada gave certificates to the participants towards the end of the session.
