However, lack of proper management and negligence on the part of jute mill owners and Government, has led this highest foreign exchange earner on the path of deterioration. Presently, the industry is finding hard to cope the fierce competition from other jute producing countries.
The closure of Narayangunj based Adamjee Jute mills, was the saddest day in the history of Jute industry of Bangladesh. Over 25,000 workers lost their jobs. Since then the jute sector was unable to recover from the predicament.
In the past few years, Bangladesh saw many closures, taking, the once most flourishing industry on the edge of eradication.
Experts on the analysis of the industry scenario suggest that Government should form favourable policies and provide a friendly atmosphere for investors, so, the golden fibre industry once again regains its pinnacle.
