FIJI'S textile and clothing industry is hoping for better access to New Zealand markets under the new National Pary Government.
Textile, Clothing and Footwear Council of Fiji president Kalpesh Solanki congratulated Mr Key and the National Party on their victory.
He said they hoped the new Government would look at ways to improve market access for Fiji-made apparel and footwear into New Zealand.
Ousted opposition leader Mick Beddoes said the election outcome, like that of the US election results, expressed the choice of the people.
He paid tribute to Helen Clark and Winston Peters for their steadfastness in dealing with the problems in Fiji, despite the very negative reactions from the treason perpetrators and their and abettors.
"Like the strong and principled person that she is, Helen Clark accepted the verdict of the people as well as responsibility for her party's poor showing...," he said.
"All this was conducted in a civil and transparent way and the mantle of power will change hands in New Zealand as well as in the USA within the parameters of their laws... . This is the basic lesson Fiji needs to learn when it comes to changing our political direction."
M Beddoes congratulated Mr Key and the National Party and looked forward to the new government maintaining the pressure on the regime in Fiji afor elections in Fiji as soon as possible.
